The FIFA World Cup 2026™ – Canada, Mexico and the United States has only just begun, yet it has already captured the attention of billions around the globe. From controversial refereeing decisions to underdog teams proving their worth on the world stage, the tournament continues to generate excitement and endless conversation.

Even significant time differences have not stopped fans from staying awake to follow every moment as it unfolds.
This extraordinary level of engagement presents a unique opportunity to amplify awareness of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). Just as the World Cup unites nations through sport, the BeatNTDs campaign can unite the global community around a shared commitment to ending diseases that continue to affect vulnerable populations.
The timing is particularly important.

With the 2030 NTD Roadmap deadline drawing closer, the world must accelerate awareness and action. Many of the participating countries are affected by one or more of the 21 recognized NTDs. Let us use the World Cup platform to give a voice to those suffering from NTDs and ensure they are no longer left behind.
