A throwback to the last World Breastfeeding Week, which took place between the first and seventh of August. It was really a special moment to emphasise the critical role of adequate nutrition at the beginning of life and through all its stages. In the absence of adequate nutrition, malnutrition occurs having several social, developmental and health effects.

Having picked up a Noma case in an IDP, and
seeing the free interplay of health related factors, our volunteers visited an IDP camp in North Central Nigeria where we joined our voice with the call for exclusive and adequate breastfeeding. Additionally, we demonstrated appropriate feeding practices for the benefit of children those no longer sucking.

Importantly, we also used it as a moment to show the connection malnutrition has with many human diseases, including Noma.
This becomes very necessary to prevent Noma, seeing the hygienic conditions in most IDPs can contribute to the occurrence of disease
