For example, it is well known that onchocerciasis caused all the people in a settlement to leave their native community, leading to stoppage of agricultural activities, and economic loss. It is also well noted how blindness in trachoma patients have affected school enrolment, social integration and economic activities. NTDs are not just diseases of poverty but diseases that perpetuates the cycle of poverty. This cycle should be understood and intercept in order to give freedom to more than one billion people affected by this group of diseases
