CAN WE ACHIEVE THE SDGS BY 2030❓️
The global targets coded as SDGs affect us all, and everyone should play a role in achieving them and call the attention of people at the forefront. For a while, we have asked if the SDGs can still be achieved 2030. The recently released WHO report is giving some insight with which everyone should be familiar.
Starting with the under-5 mortality. The progress in the SDG era has slowed down compared to the MDG era. If this continues, the target may not be met. Hence, it was a wake-up call for everyone. Maternal mortality has reduced but is still unacceptably high, and the Africa region is still having the highest burden, a situation that had been like this for over two decades.
Regarding Neglected Tropical Diseases, there is an improvement in the number of people requiring intervention. Though this is one of the major targets, fragile health systems that are susceptible to shock from various natural, epidemic, humanitarian, and political events can prevent progress.
We still need to ask and keep asking the question, CAN WE ACHIEVE THE SDGS BY 2030❓️❓️
